Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) – Party Overview
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is a major political party in Pakistan, founded in 1996 by former international cricketer Imran Khan. The party was established with the vision of creating a just, welfare-oriented, and corruption-free Pakistan, inspired by the concept of Riyasat-e-Madina (a state based on justice, accountability, and social welfare).
PTI positions itself as a reformist and anti-corruption party, advocating for rule of law, institutional accountability, independent judiciary, and transparent governance. Its core agenda includes economic reforms, social justice, healthcare and education improvements, poverty alleviation, and strengthening Pakistan’s sovereignty in foreign policy.
The party gained significant national prominence in the 2013 and 2018 general elections, forming the federal government in 2018 and governing until 2022. PTI has traditionally drawn strong support from youth, urban middle classes, overseas Pakistanis, and voters seeking political change.
