Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is one of the oldest and most influential political parties in Pakistan. It was founded in 1967 by Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto with the slogan “Roti, Kapra aur Makaan” (Bread, Clothing, and Shelter), reflecting its commitment to social justice and the rights of the common people.
PPP follows a center-left political ideology, emphasizing democracy, social welfare, federalism, and public-sector development. The party has historically advocated for workers’ rights, poverty reduction, women’s empowerment, and greater provincial autonomy under the Constitution.
The party has formed several federal governments and continues to hold strong political influence, particularly in Sindh province, where it has governed for multiple terms. PPP is also recognized for its role in strengthening democratic institutions and parliamentary politics in Pakistan.
Led today by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Pakistan Peoples Party remains a significant force in national politics, carrying forward the legacy of the Bhutto family and maintaining its presence in Pakistan’s democratic process.
